Use the Rolko extension to study Korean with English translations in a supported desktop browser. The button names below match the English interface. On a phone or tablet, use the Reading Workspace and Review on the website instead.
Open the Rolko Chrome Web Store listing in desktop Chrome, Brave or Edge. In Chrome, select Add to Chrome, then Add extension. Open the browser’s Extensions menu (puzzle-piece icon) and pin Rolko so its icon stays visible. You do not need Developer mode or a downloaded ZIP. Sign in to Rolko in the same browser profile. Set Study language to Korean and Translation language to English in the app. There is no separate extension password. After enabling a page in the next step, check the extension’s sign-in state. Its Study language selector uses the same active language pair as the website; changes apply to both.
Open an ordinary webpage you want to read, then click the Rolko toolbar icon and Try Rolko on this page. Allow the requested account connection to let Rolko use your signed-in session. This starts a temporary trial in the current tab. For future visits, choose Always enable on followed by the site name and approve that site’s permission. Enable Rolko on all websites is optional. You can remove individual sites in Website access. If you cancel a permission prompt, reopen the popup and try again when ready.
On an enabled website containing Korean text, hover over an unfamiliar word to open its dictionary information. Use the available pronunciation/audio controls. If nothing appears, check the active language pair and the Page Text Hover option in the Rolko toolbar icon’s right-click menu, then refresh the page. Browser settings pages and the Chrome Web Store cannot be used as test pages. The Rolko website already has its own word lookup.
Open YouTube, Netflix or Bilibili in the enabled browser tab. Choose a video with available Korean captions and enable the player’s captions. Turn Rolko’s on-screen subtitle control ON. Hover a word in the Rolko subtitles to look it up; reveal the available English sentence translation when needed. Not every video has the required language track. Bilibili does not support timed A/S/D navigation or cue-end auto-pause. Translation and AI features follow your plan’s limits.
In a word popup, choose Learning to save a word for practice or Learned for one you already know. Saving new words in the extension requires Starter, Plus or Pro; free dictionary lookup is available. Open Words or Review using the same account and language pair to continue. An empty review queue can mean the saved words are not due yet.
For a signed-out popup, check your Rolko session in the same browser profile and repeat the account connection. For an inactive page, check its permission, the selected language and the relevant feature toggle; refresh after changing access. If captions are unavailable, try another video with captions in Korean. If a save is blocked by your plan, follow the plan message. Report remaining problems through Bug report, including the site, browser, language pair and action; never include a password or sign-in link.
